Carol Fair
Carol Fair was 22-years-old when she was approached by an Army Special Services Recruiter at the University of Iowa. The recruiter told her that the war in Vietnam was winding down and she would be sent to Europe. The recruiter also told her that while the job entailed working with troops, she would mostly get to travel throughout Europe while getting paid. An exciting offer, Fair agreed and signed up. Little did she know that the war in Vietnam was far from over in June of 1969. Shortly after her graduation, Fair was sent orders to report in Vietnam. Fair speaks of her daily duties, her experiences with the soldiers, and her reflections of the war today.
