Pam Hays

Pam Hays grew up traveling and living all over the world, so volunteering to be a librarian for Army Special Services during the Vietnam War fit her adventurous spirit. After attending the University of Hawaii Library School, Hays was sent to Saigon where she worked in the library. As Saigon functioned as a normal city during the war, Hays felt detached from the war that was ensuing in the nearby countryside. Hays reflects on her duties as a librarian, her disillusionment with the war, and her opinions of the war today.
