John Vickers served as an Army Engineer for over 30 years. His career began on July 7, 1953, his first day of West Point, from which he graduated as Valedictorian. He served in Korea, completed many levels of Army schooling, and on November 11, 1967, arrived in Vietnam. Over the course of his two tours, Vickers received 4 Bronze Stars, the third highest medal of valor awarded by the Army.
